SB 863 Lien Activation Fee – Sword or Shield?
Practitioners in the workers’ compensation arena are becoming well versed in the new lien regulations/rules that took effect on January 1, 2013. Those rules, promulgated by Senate Bill (SB) 863, require lien claimants to pay a $150 filing fee on all liens filed after January 1, 2013, and a $100 activation fee when filing a declaration of readiness to proceed or before a lien conference.
